Virginia “Ginny” Chatterton, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 with her beloved children by her side. She was the most selfless person, almost to a fault. Virginia thought of everyone before herself. She lived and breathed for her grandchildren.
She was a reading teacher for over 40 years throughout Pennsylvania and New York. She earned her bachelors from Millersville State University and her masters from Penn State University. Virginia was the choir director and organist at several churches during the time she lived in the different areas she taught. After retirement she was very involved in Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Binghamton. Virginia’s life mission was writing cards to not only friends but church members who were shut ins. She continued this during her illness as this was something so very important, something near and dear to her heart. Virginia was also an author who has published a biography “Surviving the Game of Life” about a very special family friend Damon Rozier. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours helping nature make the world more beautiful.
She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Martha Crook. Virginia is survived by her children, Geoff and Joan Chatterton and Beth Scoville, treasured grandchildren Seth Chatterton, Robbie Chatterton, Emma Bensen, Nathan Chatterton and Drew Scoville.
Virginia's family would also like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell and Good Shepherd Fairview for their outstanding compassion, care, and love they extended Virginia in her final days and months. We would like to especially thank her “girls” Diana, Melissa , Carol, Kim, Paula, Rose, Cathy D, Michelle, Ann and Deb and her two favorite “guys” Gary and Ray.
