Donald Finney

Donald A. Finney,88, of Conklin Forks went home to be with his Lord and precious family on July 9, 2021 and has joined the Heavenly choir. He suffered from several health problems and succumbed to a heart attack. He was predeceased by his parents Alva and Fayetta Finney, his sisters Norma (Harold) Van Hart and Wilma (Walter) Hanyon, brother Alan (Della) Finney, twin grandsons Ian and Matthew Finney and nephew David Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, daughter Connie, sons Thomas (Cindy) and Michael (LuAnne), grandchildren, Lauren (Matthew) Sheehan, Gina (Dennis) Godbout, Sarah Finney, Lora (Mitchell) Moliterni and Samuel Finney, two great grandsons Ryan and Maxwell Sheehan, several in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Don was a very faithful member of Conklin Forks United Methodist Church. He did the Lord’s work in many areas including Sunday School Teacher, choir member, Lay Leader, Board Chairperson, and Trustee. He was employed as an engineer at Universal Instruments for 50 years and retired in 2001. He had a deluge of buddies and friends that he worked with, always coming home with “tales to tell”! We just hope his co-workers realize how much he treasured working at Universal! It was such a delight to be in his company and enjoy his great sense of humor. He was a very precious, loving husband father and Grandpa always looking after his children and wanting to know how they were doing. Where there was a need, he was right there to help. He dearly loved our family gatherings. A special “thank you” goes to Dave, Carrie and Elaine for all their time and efforts they gave to their “Special Uncle”! Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the Conklin Forks United Methodist Church, 4420 Brady Hill Road, Conklin Forks with the Reverend David Piatt officiating. Interment will follow services in Conklin Forks Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Monday, July 19, 2021, at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Don’s name may be made to Conklin Forks United Methodist Church, 4420 Brady Hill Road, Binghamton, NY 13903.
