William E. Reifler, Sr.

d. December 29, 2022

William E. Reifler, Sr., 88, passed away December 29, 2022. Affectionally known as Bill, Reifs, Porky and Papa to his friends and family, he was born in Binghamton where he lived until his passing. He was a loving father and husband to his wife Barbara for 50 years. Bill was known as the best tile and marble setter around, he worked for Leva Brothers until he retired in 1999 at the age of 65. After a brief retirement Bill went back to what he loved as an independent contractor working with Bill Jr. Leaving their mark lining the Oakdale Mall, the Town Square Mall, several other private homes and businesses with the most prideful mark being the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Bill was also the original owner of the Pine Lounge (now Abels) which was and still is one of the most popular watering holes on the Westside of Binghamton. Bill always said, “the Westside parents hated him because when the kids would come home for holiday’s they would stop at the Pine first before going home”. Bill also sponsored many sports teams among other donations throughout his life. The heart and soul of those sponsorships was the Binghamton Barbarian Rugby Club. Bill loved to lay tile, Bill loved his time at the Pine Lounge, Bill loved his children, adored his grandchildren, enjoyed his four-legged friends, but most of all he loved his wife Barb, his one regret was not enough time with her, while our hearts are broken it is our hope they are together again. He was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara, parents Arthur and Mabel Reifler, sister Carol Marie Dodd. Bill is survived by his children, son William Reifler (Sandra) and their children Ryan, Samantha, Allison and his daughter Sara Reifler, her son Parker. He leaves behind brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Barbara Reifler, several nieces and nephews, very close family friends and his Pine Lounge crew. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 3, 2022 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Dr. Steven Chastain officiating. Interment in Vestal Hills Memorial Park will be private. Family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Monday, December 2, 2022 at the funeral home.
