William Dudar

d. October 15, 2023

William "Bill" P. Dudar , 84, passed away after a short illness on October 15, 2023.  Bill was born in Elmira, NY in 1939, beloved only son of William Dudar and Theresa Rutzke Dudar, both now deceased.  Bill was a proud alumnus of Elmira Southside High School, and had an extended family of cousins, aunts, and uncles in the Elmira area.  They spent summers at Keuka Lake, in the Finger Lakes region he so loved.

Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Dianna, and their sons, David and Christopher Dudar.

Bill worked for over 30 years in inside sales for Syracuse Supply Company and Binghamton Industrial, and served his country honorably as a National Guardsman.  A graduate of Broome Tech (now SUNY Broome), Bill volunteered for decades at the American Red Cross blood bank in Binghamton and Johnson City.

Daily crosswords and wine were a passion for Bill, and he and Dianna have been active members of an area wine club for many years.  Bill played tennis well into his late 70s, attended matches at the US Open, and volunteered at local Binghamton area tennis tournaments.  He enrolled in a number of Lyceum classes with his wife, and together they traveled to over 25 countries on four continents.  They sponsored international Binghamton University students over the years and took special pride in seeing one of them become a tenured professor here in upstate NY.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2023 at DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made  to the American Red Cross, 786 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY, 14209. To forward condolences please visit www.demunn.com.
