It is with a profound sadness that our mom, Wanda Lucille Shotwell Brown, born on May 17, 1932, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents Claude and Erma Shotwell, her brother, Carl Shotwell, son- in-law Wayne Grau, and daughter-in-law, Ana Brown. She is survived by her seven children: John (Kelley), Sue Grau (Dave Burns), Jeff, Ken (Candy), Karen DeMartino (Ted), Wendy DelSanto (Mark) and Jerry (Dan Schmidt) She was the proud grandmother to 26, grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, Also surviving are her sister, Janet (Paul) Kristunas, brothers, Lloyd (Margaret) Shotwell, Earl (Doris) Shotwell, sister-in-law Barbara Shotwell, brothers-in law Jerome (Ann) Brown and Gregory (Lisa) Brown, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Mom lived her life to the fullest and gave with everything she had. Mom loved unconditionally and forgave easily. She was a selfless woman who many times put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was our sounding board; she listened and gave thoughtful advice and was the calm of our storm, our rock. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. For the last several years, she enjoyed spending the July 4th holiday at her son Jerry’s home in Rochester where the family would gather for a two- or three-day party. For 20 years she headed up her Class Luncheons in Tunkhannock, PA, always sending out newsletters afterwards. Mom loved to write letters to keep in touch with out-of-town family and friends. Her grandchildren who served in the Armed Forces especially loved getting these letters. Mom lived with her daughter Karen and family for the last 30 years. Karen’s family did an awesome job making sure mom had what she needed, especially the last year when Mom began to get weaker and needed more care. For that, the family is very grateful and will never be able to pay that debt back. Mom leaves a legacy of patience and love. Her daughters often telling her that if they could be half of the mom she was, they would feel blessed. While the last several weeks have been difficult, the family wishes to thank the staff at both Ideal Senior Living Center Rehab and Lourdes Hospital Seton 1. They have been nothing short of wonderful to work with and gave our mom the best care. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, June 24, 2022 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, New York. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of services.
