Walter Lee “Rocky” Rockefeller, 85, passed away June 26, 2018 with his loving wife by his side. Rocky served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a retiree of the Susquehanna Valley School District.  He was a member of Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church for over sixty years, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Conklin Historical Society. Rocky enjoyed helping others whenever he could. A favorite pastime was cutting  his lawn, actually anyone’s lawn. He spent many nights at Five Mile Point enjoying the races, or watching NASCAR from his own comfy chair at home. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Charlotte Rockefeller, sister, Jeanne Rockefeller and son, Richard “Rick” Rockefeller. Rocky is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, daughter-in-law, Deb Rockefeller, Binghamton. He leaves behind brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Lloyd (Jean), Clara, Doris, Lucy (Dale), Gerald, Donald (Diane), Louise, Lois (Doug), Betty, David, Arthur, Howard, Martha, Susan (Ron), Dawn, Mark and Clara and a large extended family. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Shawsville Cemetery, Shaw Road, Conklin with the Reverend Dr. Steve Chastain officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rocky’s name may be made to Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church, 91 Baldwin Street, Binghamton, NY 13903 or Good Shepherd Communities Foundation, 32 Village Drive, Endwell, NY 13760.
