Susette Blackwood

Susette Blackwood, 98, of Binghamton, NY moved to America in 1965 from Jamica, West Indies. She transitioned peacefully into the arms of our Lord on September 12, 2018 at 98 years old. Suzette retired from Binghamton General Hospital after working several years. She also worked for the Salvation Army and did years of volunteer work. Susette was always helping people and loved cooking and baking for family when not tending to her beautiful garden. Susette was recently predeceased by her son Arnold Blackwood, Sr. and her brother Ortez Hilton both of which left a hole in her heart. Susette leaves behind to mourn her passing her sister, Pearle Hilton of New York City, son Trevor (Faye) Blackwood of Georgia, daughters, Inez Black, Florida, Hilma Cary of California and Vanette Thompson of Binghamton. She will be sorely missed by nine grandchildren, Althia Fraser, Martin Blackwood, Michael (Theresa) Esson, Donna (Shaquan) Jordan, Dwayne (Nadia) Blackwood, Arnold Blackwood, Jr, Ernest Thompson, Nyran Thompson and Delroy Blackwood, sixteen great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and three adopted sons, Joey, Carlton and Dezroy. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, September 27, 2018 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Glenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 am, until the time of services.
