Steven A. Swartwood, 56, fought a short and difficult battle with pancreatic cancer and passed October 28, 2018. Steve was a man who spoke his mind. His life centered around family. No matter what time day or night Steve would be the first to arrive if someone needed help. He enjoyed riding his Harley, the Binghamton Rangers, who broke his heart by leaving town and watching high school football. Steve was a former Assistant Fire Chief for the Town of Binghamton and belonged to the Sons of Union Veterans of Civil War. He worked for Fleet Pride and was a Range Aid for Harley Davidson on Front Street in Binghamton He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Dorothy Swartwood, sister Penny, mother-in-law Helen Price and brother-in-law Bruce Price. Steven is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 27 years, Zina Swartwood, daughter Kara Swartwood who was the pride and joy of Steve’s life, brother Michael (Sue Tong) Swartwood, Terry (Julie) Swartwood, Joe (Karen) Swartwood, sisters; Rita Hart, Linda (Robert) McDonald and Dawn (Terry) Swartwood. He leaves behind sisters-in-law; Theresa (David) Price-Kotarski, Rose Price, Lori (John) Gavette, Kim Price, Mary (Kevin) Stankiewicz, Cindy (Javier) Price, Marsha Monta, brother-in-law Art Hoyt and many nieces and nephews. Steven also leaves behind his beloved dog Reba. A Pasta Dinner benefit for Steve’s family will be held from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Knights of Columbus, 136 Park Avenue, Binghamton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton.
