Steven Reifler

d. July 26, 2024

Steven Reifler, 53, passed away July 26, 2024 after a long courageous battle with myotonic muscular dystrophy. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Before his illness progressed he was a member of the Bricklayer and Tile Union employed as a tile finisher. Steve was his mother’s “Thursday Bingo Buddy”. He loved taking his father to hockey games, cheering for all of the different teams over the  years of hockey in Binghamton. Steve also loved taking road trips with his caregiver June and his little dog, Annie. He enjoyed playing card games with his family. Steve always made his family laugh with his corny jokes and dry sense of humor. He has been a Kansas City Chiefs fan for many years, well before their Super Bowl win.

Steve is survived by his parents, Doug and Barb Reifler, Binghamton, caregiver June Roby, Endicott, beloved service dog, Annie, siblings; Dougie and Kelli Reifler, Michael and Wendy Reifler all of Atlanta, Georgia and Eric Reifler and Lynette Oakley, Binghamton. He leaves behind aunt Laura Zakrajsek, Windsor and several nieces and nephews. Steve’s family would like to thank the Lourdes Hospice for their outstanding care during Steve’s illness.

Funeral services will be private. Steve will be interred in Glenwood Cemetery in Troy, Pennsylvania. To forward condolences please visit www.demunn.com. Memorial contributions in Steve’s name may be made to Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church, 91 Baldwin Street, Binghamton, NY 13903 or Lourdes Hospice 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850. Arrangements for the family are directed by the DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
