Shirley Durkin

Shirley Durkin, age 95, resident of Goodlettsville, TN passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2024 surrounded by family.

Shirley was born July 5, 1929 in Elmira New York to Arthur and Nellie Wheeler. She was raised in Caton, NY and went to Corning schools. Shirley was an incredible Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt.

She is survived by her loving family; Sons, Arthur (Jennifer) Durkin, and Joseph Durkin Jr.; Daughters, Karen (Rick) Nichols, Mary (Rick) Leonard; Sister Patricia Robbins and niece Kathy (Mike) Dunn as well as 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous other loving nieces and nephews

Shirley is preceded in death by her loving Husband Joseph R. Durkin, Daughter Susan Prince, Daughter-in Law Shannon Durkin, and Grandson Richard J. Nichols.

Shirley graduated as a Registered Nurse from the St. Josephs School of Nursing in Elmira, NY and worked faithfully as an RN for over 40 years.

Shirley enjoyed baking, cooking, eating ice cream, sewing, cross stitch, puzzling, doing ceramics, was a voracious reader, AND at 95 was a rapid fire texter, emoji queen and daily weather reporter!!!
