Sally O. Elderkin, 82, went peacefully to be with her lord and Savior on Thursday, March 22, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She had been living with the caring staff at The Homesteads in Apalachin for several years. She spent her life tending to others needs as a Registered Nurse specializing in the care of patients suffering from alcoholism and chemical dependency. Sally enjoyed gardening, music, reading and spending time with friends and family which often meant "coffee on the veranda". She was a strong prayer warrior and faithful member of her church, often found working in the nursery or absorbed in her daily bible devotions. Sally was predeceased by her parents, David and Mabel Owens and her devoted husband Arthur "Steve" Elderkin. She is survived by her children, Sherry, David and linda Elderkin and Deanna Boucher, treasured grandchildren, Nichole Evans, Elana Nunez-Tiso and Jimmy Tiso, Steven Nunez, Amber and Dan Ellis and great grandchildren, Hannah, Alexis, Nathaniel, lucas, Roman, Shawn and Michael who all called her Gigi. She leaves behind two brothers-in-law, Victor and Shirley Elderkin and Roger and Jennifer Heatley, many nieces and nephews, countless friends and the loving staff and caregivers at the Homestead. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at West Windsor Baptist Church with Pastor Brian King officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of services at the church.
