Ruth Wolcott

Ruth V. Rolles Wolcott passed away on August 27, 2022, with her children at her side. She will be missed by many. Ruth was born on March 17th, 1935. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, her brothers George, Richard, and Harold and her parents Ruth and George Rolles.

Ruth is survived by her children, Michelle (Dane), Maureen (Randy), Charles Jr., Karen (Dave) and Deneene (Damon).  Her beloved grandchildren, David, Robert, Eric, Marc and Erica and great grandchildren Dakota, Lily and Dane Michael. She leaves behind her sister Joyce and sister-in-law Delores including many nieces and nephews.

Ruth had an avid interest in gardening with a true, green thumb. She was creative, with an eye and passion for arranging beautiful floral arrangements.  This love of gardening led to being an owner of a floral shop. When asked what her favorite flower was, she had a hard time picking. After thinking hard about this, she chose roses, specifically pink ones. Her passion continued with her own lawn, which she meticulously maintained well into her 80s. If it was up to her, you would never spot a weed.  You could always find her pulling weeds at any hour of the day and sniffing every flower in sight.

Every Sunday at 12, her family knew that her door was open, and a plate would be ready with a warm, homemade meal. Ruth was known as the “strong one” in the family, and always said “to keep moving”. So that is what we will do. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Ave., Binghamton.  Interment will follow services in Chenango Valley Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of services.
