Ronald John Yacaginsky, 72, of Conklin, NY, passed away on June 24, 2025. Born on August 16, 1952, in Hanover Township, PA, Ron was a devoted family man and a dedicated employee at the Frito Lay Kirkwood plant. Having worked for an incredible 45 years and being the longest-serving employee, he was given the nickname "Captain Corn Chip" by his peers. Because of this outstanding achievement, he had the honor of ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange for PepsiCo, a moment he cherished and shared with pride.
Ron enjoyed many hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors and spending time with family. He loved fishing and going on kayak trips from the Kirkwood park down to his house. He also loved sitting in the middle of the river on his lounge chair when the water was low, relaxing and enjoying the peacefulness of nature. While his children were growing up he shared his love of the river with them by teaching them how to swim with the fishes upstream against the current. He also taught them to catch their own bait; usually bullheads and crabs, bait their own hooks and reel in "the big one".
He often said he couldn't ask for anything more perfect than a river in his own backyard. While ridding bikes through the neighborhood 43 years ago with this wife, he saw a "for sale" sign on their future home along the river. It was at that moment he turned to her and said "I hope you like the house, because I like the river". When he wasn't in the river, you could find Ron relaxing on his driveway working on his tan. He often got compliments on his dark tan which made him beam with pride. Ron enjoyed grilling the perfect steak in front of his house, chatting with neighbors. He was a very social person who made friends easily wherever he would go.
Ron had a unique habit of always checking the weather and sharing the report with all those who would listen. It was his way of making sure that everyone could spend the day doing something they loved. He had a special fondness for watching the eagles that had built a nest in one of the trees in his backyard and reporting back to his family. He also enjoyed watching the Canadian Geese, Great Blue Heron, and all the other wildlife that could be found at the river.
Family was everything to Ron. He leaves behind his wonderful wife of 51 years, Mary-Anne; his daughter Kara Winner (Jeff) and their children Michael, and Matthew; his daughter Erin Duff (Frank) and their children Evan, Isla, and Joey; and his son Ryan Yacaginsky (Amanda) and their children Parker and Peyton. He was a proud grandfather who loved nothing more than receiving hugs and handcrafted pictures and cards from his grandchildren.
Ron's family will always miss hearing him say "I love you forever and ever" and "I love you sweetie". His warm spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and unforgettable memories spent with family and friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his mother Anna Yacaginsky, father Michael Yacaginsky, and brother Michael Yacaginsky, Jr.
