Robert "Bingo Bob" Palmer now knows the answers to all of his questions about heaven. Bob passed away after a brief illness August 5th. Born January 14th 1941 on the front steps of Binghamton General Hospital to Marjorie (Thomas) Palmer and Theron William Palmer.
He grew up on the southside of Binghamton with his brothers Richard and Donald and his sister Phyllis. A proud graduate of Binghamton North High School, Bob went on to be one of the founding drivers for United Parcel Service when they expanded into upstate New York. Driving millions of miles over New York and Pennsylvania roads he shuttled important packages to and from Binghamton. He was especially proud to be a Teamster and of his 38 years of accident-free driving with UPS. He was awarded Mack trucks two million miles club, UPS Circle of Honor membership and the prestigious New York State Motor Truck Association driver of the year in 1999.
His greatest accomplishment was being a loving and doting husband to his wife of 50 years, Betty (Gregory) and a great Dad to his 6 children, Grant Russell, Tina (John) Arnold, Jerry (Myra) Russell, Robin (Duane) Frisbie, Timothy Palmer, Andrew (Sevda) Russell. A Grandfather to Grant, Thomas, Heather, Kristina, Timothy, Larry, Holden, Cody, Gaige, Alex, Kellen and twelve great Grandchildren. Betty and Bob were proud of the many cruises, trips and 40 plus years of camping and boating on the St. Lawrence River that they enjoyed before her death in 2019. Bob served and attended Conklin Forks Methodist Church where his beautiful tenor voice could be heard in the choir.
Services will be held on Thursday August 13, 2026 at the Conklin Forks Methodist Church, 4420 Brady Hill Road, Binghamton. Visitation from 9:00 am, service at 10:00 am with burial at the Conklin Cemetery. He never met a flower that he couldn't take out with the weed whacker.
