Robert (Kasha'ka) Jasper Jr., born to Marie and Robert Jasper in Philadelphia, PA on January 31,1953, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy filled with love and music.
Kasha'ka had a deep passion for African drumming and music that resonated through his life. He was a founding member and drum master of "Shanti Amani", a West African drum and dance troupe known throughout Central NY. His love for music was more than a pastime; it was a way for him to connect with the rhythm of life and share happiness with others.
Bob was previously a foreman at Bell Atlantic phone company in Vestal, NY and could still remember each telephone pole he had climbed up and worked on. Truth be told, if you were lucky enough to be in Bob's address book, you probably heard from him by phone in the wee hours of the morning.
He was a lover of knowledge and wisdom, a life-long learner. A proud African-American man on a mission to honor the story of his ancestors through the beat of his drum.
Bob lived a modest lifestyle, and felt a true sense of pride from giving to others. His family is extremely grateful to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, where he peacefully spent his final days. His spirit and enthusiasm for life touched the hearts of many, and his memory will forever be celebrated. Kasha'ka will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love he gave and the joy he spread.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025 and announced at a later date.
One love.
