Robert Constable

     Our beloved father, Robert Constable, 91, passed away December 26, 2017. He was selected for the Navy V-12 program right out of high school during WWII and attended Middlebury College. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later attended UC at Berkley under the GI Bill. Upon his return home, Robert was a computer programmer for IBM for more than 30 years. He was an avid reader and photographer, loved hiking, learning and music (both playing and listening). He was a builder by necessity, if there was a need for bookshelves or a custom-made table it would be a project to be built meticulously with beautiful results. Robert will be remembered by his children as the world’s greatest father who taught them to be independent, caring adults and to share those life lessons with their own families.     He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor. Robert is survived by his children; John Robert Constable, Bowie, Md., Joanne and Ken Thrasher, Greene, NY, Steven and Maureen Constable, Hyde Park, NY and Barbara Constable, Binghamton, treasured grandchildren; Andrea (Ryan Morse), Johnny, Jeffrey and Allison Constable, Emma and Christina Thrasher, Megan and Riley Constable, great grandchildren; Theodore and Ava Eleanor Morse and a large extended family. Robert’s family would like to thank the staff at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford for the exceptional care he received for the past three years.     Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with the Reverend Dr. Michael Krembs officiating. Inurnment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of services.
