Anita Rita Leventman, 88, passed away on Monday morning April 6, 2015 with family at her side.  Rita was predeceased by her husband Herman, infant son, Stan Joel, parents, Morris and Sarah Rappaport,   step-mother, Celia Rappaport, and sister Rose Weiland. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Denis Goldsmith and son, Dean Leventman. She is also survived by grandsons Adam Goldsmith, Jared Goldsmith & wife Tanya and great grandson Hunter Isaac Goldsmith as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rita grew up and raised her family in Queens, NY prior to moving to Vestal in 2000. She spent 25 years as secretary for the health, physical education and dance department at Queensborough Community College in Queens New York. She relished the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle, Broadway shows, and performing at various senior centers. She also enjoyed the Lawrence Welk Show. She loved to flash her trademark sparkling blue eyes ("Five foot two; Eyes of blue and Oh what those 5 feet can do" was her song). She will be forever missed by her adoring family and friends. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the 4th floor staff of the Susquehanna Nursing Home and Rehab Center for their compassionate care. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 2:00 at Temple Concord, 9 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 1:00 PM until the time of the service at Temple Concord. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Johnson City. Shiva will be held at the Goldsmith Home on Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday April 8th from 7-9 PM. Please visit ParsonsFuneral.Com to offer your condolences.
