Listen to Obituary

Rhoda Bea Messemer (Dreznik), born on February 10, 1946, passed away on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirit that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rhoda is survived by her sons David Schadick (Alicia Bascom) and Benjamin Abrams, her daughters Lisa Abrams (Casey Streeter) and Laura Dorfman (Jeffrey Dorfman), and her sister Mindy Joseph. She was a devoted friend, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was known lovingly as "grandma," "bub, "boob" and "bubbie" to her grandchildren Taylor Schadick, Aliseya Abrams, Matthew Dorfman, Alexander Dorfman, and Serrabella Hunt. Rhoda's family was her greatest joy, and she nurtured them through her cooking, warmth, and countless cherished memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Mary Dreznik, brother-in-law Lewis Joseph, and her beloved granddaughter Molly Poklemba.

Passionate about oldies music and the 1950s, Rhoda found endless joy in Doo-wop, Elvis, and all things 50s. She had a 50's party planning business, was a regular attendee at Lead East, and could sock-hop, swing, dance, and sing. Whether it was through her vibrant personality, her humor, or a plate of what her family agrees were the best meatballs in the world, Rhoda had a gift for bringing people together. That gift was on full display when she led the planning for the Long Island City Class of 1963's 50th high school reunion, tracking down classmates from all over the world and organizing a celebration that reminded everyone why they loved her.

A woman of many talents, Rhoda appeared in the movie "The Overnight" and acted in a television commercial, showing her zest for life and willingness to embrace new experiences. She dedicated herself to raising her family, teaching them the importance of kindness, supporting each other, and cherishing every moment together.

Funeral Service will be Monday April 20, 2026 at 12:00 ppm at Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home new location 36 Conklin Avenue Binghamton, New York 13903 with Rabbi Leah Moser officiating. with burial to follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service. Funeral Services will be live streamed on https://www.facebook.com/funeralsncremations starting at 11:55 am.
