Marguerite (Reta) Zacharias Krisko 92, of Vestal, passed away peacefully Tuesday July 12, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years John J. Krisko. Reta was born on March 5, 1930 in Johnson City, NY, to James and Margaret Zacharias. Growing up in JC she and her family raised horses where she became an avid western horse rider. She played the vibraharp and preformed regular on the radio. She graduated from Binghamton North High in 1948. She drove taxi cab for her family-owned cab company, The Johnson City Cab Company. Here she became a member of the first cab company in the United States that employed all women cab drivers. She served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. She worked for Ozalid’s as an executive secretary. For over 20 years she worked for the Vestal Central School District at the Vestal Hills Elementary School. She worked for McDonald’s in 1968 and become one of the first women ever hired by McDonald’s. After retirement she continues to work for various retail stores – Montgomery Wards, The Bon-Ton, Hickory Farms, Christmas on the Mall, and H & R Block. Reta will always be remembered for her willingness to volunteer for her kid’s activities from cub scouts to softball coach. She had a great sense of humor and could bring life to any gathering. Most of all, to those her knew her, Reta was an impeccable dresser. She always had to have everything coordinate including shoes, handbags, jewelry, and even her reading glasses. Reta is survived by her son and daughter, Bruce Krisko, Boise Idaho and Brett Krisko-Hoffmann Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Her two cherished grandchildren, Hailey Quinn Hoffmann, Ohio and Zachary Tyler Krisko, Idaho. She is survived by brother James Zacharias, Candor, NY and sister Marylyn Weiss, Austin, TX. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday July 18, 2022 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 17, 2022.
