Penny M. Sanders went home to the loving arms of the Lord on August 12, 2023, at the age of 66. She was the youngest child of the late Arthur J. and Billie D. Anderson. She was born and raised in Binghamton, New York and finished her schooling at Binghamton Central High School. Penny was the only sibling of six who never left the Binghamton area. She loved and enjoyed the closeness of the hometown environment versus the spread out, fast paced, hectic city life.
Penny was employed in various jobs in the health field. Binghamton Psychiatric Hospital, Good Shepherd Fairview Home, the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) and her retirement from Broome Developmental Disability Services. She was an active member of her church Trinity AME Zion where She implemented fund raisers to purchase chairs for the church dining hall and repair the pews in the sanctuary.
Penny had a passion to live, love, and laugh. Although often in pain she would push through and never lost her sense of humor nor her infectious laughter and smile. Penny loved meeting new people which prompted her to join Triple Cities Nu-Temple #1344, Elks United. Her fellow elk families enjoyed her presence everywhere she went. Penny will most be remembered for her big heart and her equally big laugh. She believed in forgiveness and that everyone deserves a second chance. She also had a love for the road, taking many trips in her Highlander. She drove back and forth to Florida like it was around the corner. She preferred driving than flying. Penny also had a tender heart for animals, especially dogs. She was the owner of many dogs through out her years. Mancha and Charlie are her current canines that she loved dearly. She affectionately called them her “boys".
Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons Warren G. Carter Ill and Anthony Carter. Sister Roxanne Graham of Florida, E. James Anderson (Dee) Las Vegas, Carl Anderson (Kathy) Florida and Brian Anderson of Binghamton. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Penny will be loved and deeply missed by all and never forgotten.
