Paul Castiglione

April 12, 1936 — June 18, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul "Stiggy" Castiglione, 89, of Binghamton, New York, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on June 18, 2025. Paul was born on April 12, 1936, in Troy, New York, to Italian immigrant parents, Calogero and Carmela Castiglione. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend.

Paul was married to his beloved wife, Jeannette, for 67 years, a partnership that stood as a testament to his devotion and love. Together, they created a beautiful family, and Paul's legacy lives on through his children: Donna and Dennis Pisani , Paul Castiglione, Michelle and Steven Brown; his treasured grandchildren: Bethany and Alex Garcia, Jessica Pisani, Gabrielle and Colbey Ryman, Evan Pisani, Isabell Castiglione and Andrew Smith, Dori and Isaiah Hutchko, Connor Brown and financée Lauren Maines; great-grandchildren Olivia, Dominic, Highland and River.

Paul graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1957 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned his Professional Engineering license in 1980. He spent a fulfilling career at GE Aerospace, later continuing through various acquisitions to retire from BAE in 1998. Paul was awarded a patent for his innovative work at GE and was a member of the Elfun Society. Throughout his career, Paul was known as a compassionate coworker and a respected leader who mentored and positively impacted many lives. At his retirement, he was celebrated by his friends and colleagues, many of whom had become chosen family through years of shared holiday gatherings, summer picnics, travel, and outdoor adventures.

Paul was known for his wisdom, warm heart, playfulness, and generous spirit. His ability to connect with people made people feel seen and every moment special. A lover of the outdoors, Paul enjoyed activities such as downhill and cross-country skiing, golfing, tennis, pickleball, biking, and camping. His home in the Town of Binghamton, which was lovingly known as "Camp Gram and Gramps" became a sanctuary for family and friends. Each of the grandkids spent a week there every summer. Year after year, he planted a large garden, earning the playful nickname of the "squash fairy" for his habit of delivering freshly harvested vegetables to his coworkers, often slipping them into car windows.

One of Paul's greatest joys was tending to his fig tree, a sprout from his father's 100-year-old Sicilian tree. Though it never bore fruit, the care and attention Paul gave it became a symbol of his enduring patience and dedication.

In retirement, Paul and Jeannette spent winters in Englewood, Florida, where they formed a close-knit community at the Forest Park condos. Paul remained an active community member, serving at the Italian American Club, the condo association, and participating in many activities and social events.

A lifelong Catholic, Paul served in many capacities at St Ambrose Church in Endicott, NY, and later at St Mary of the Assumption in Binghamton, NY. He was a beloved member of the Beer Barons softball team and numerous golf and volleyball teams throughout his life. Paul's active participation in community life, both in New York and Florida, was a reflection of his belief in the importance of connection and service.

Paul's legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He has left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and colleagues, and will forever remain in our hearts.
