Norma Pufki September 27, 1920 – April 17, 2012 Norma (Edson) Pufki died peacefully in her sleep at Wilson Memorial Hospital on the evening of April 17, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband Pete, daughter Patty Fix, and sons Jimmy and Steve. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Peter and Jill, her daughter Jeanne, her grandchildren Nicole Fix, Jenny Pufki, Karin (JP) Eldred, Jeffrey MacKenzie, Julie MacKenzie, her sister Alta Bezek , her sister in law Lillian Pufky, and several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with her only great grandchild, Jane Eldred last year. Norma was best known as a "sweetheart." To her son's friends, "Stormin Norma." She was charming and a spitfire at the same time. She had a hearty curiosity for the human spirit her whole life, even expressing  joyful fascination with the building workers outside her hospital room window days before she passed. You always knew where you stood with Norma. She loved you for who you were and she never held a grudge. Lifelong resident of Broome County, in her 91 years she built a community of family, friends and fans. She held several factory jobs, including candy packer and quality control line worker, producing one of the first computers. Her labors contributed to the war effort. Although she had a strong work ethic, putting off retirement from Good Shepherd Nursing Home until her 70's, her family always came first. As a young mother of 5, she often took the night shift so she could spend time with her kids during the day. She will be deeply missed. Her memory is a blessing for all those who knew and loved her. Her family wishes to thank the staff of South Two at Willow Point Nursing Home for the kindness and loving care they gave her. Funeral services  will be held at the  Ernest H. Parsons Funeral Home, 71 Main Street Binghamton NY. on Saturday, April 21 at 12:00 with calling hours beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Willow Point Memorial Fund in Norma's memory would be appreciated.
