Beloved son, brother and friend, Nicholas Anthony McKiernan, 26, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 22, 2017 after a long battle with drug addiction. Nick tried to beat his demons with every fiber of his being, but in the end, he was unable to. Nick was sweet, had a heart of gold, a witty sense of humor and utilized sarcasm like a maestro. He will be remembered for his almost encyclopedic knowledge of music and sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and Indianapolis Colts. Nick also loved science, video games and spending time with his special friend Alicia Reger, whom he loved very much. Nick graduated from Johnson City High School. He participated on the swim team during his four years of high school. He graduated with an Advance Regents Diploma and continued his education at SUNY Broome where he earned an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. During his time at SUNY Broome he held a student Senator's position, which he truly enjoyed. His fondest dream was eventually to return to school to study Chemistry. Nick was employed at Endicott Coil, Binghamton, for the last two years. The McKiernan family would like to thank Endicott Coil for being so kind to Nick during the time he spent employed there and how helpful they have been to us during this painful time. He was predeceased by his grandparents, James and Eleanor McKiernan, Nicholas and his most beloved 'Grandma Eva' Stasko and a special uncle, Walter Orzel, who Nick referred to as “Grandpa Waddy”. Nick is survived by his parents, Anthony and Pamela McKiernan, brother Daniel McKiernan, Endicott and sister Abigail McKiernan, at home. He is also survived several aunts, especially Sophie Stasko, Johnson City, uncles, cousins and friends.
