Michael Charles Alford

d. March 1, 2024

On March 1, 2024 , our dear brother Michael Charles Alford, left his earthly body to be with his family
that predeceased him; his paternal grandparents, Chester Alford, Egie Burrows Alford Rumsey, his
favorite Grandfather, Henry Rumsey, his maternal grandparents, Carlton Wrench and Francis Wrench,
Gladys Marks Goodnough and Roy Marks, his parents Harold Alford, Marion Wrench Alford, his sister
Sandra Prickett, his brother Kim Alford, a favorite niece, Katie Brundage, his brothers-in-law Rich
Rezucha, Mike Hammit, William Clift, Kenny Prickett, and sister- in-law Constance Niles Alford.

Mike was a graduate of Harpursville High School class of “65. He was always proud of his alma mater and
his participation in baseball, basketball, football, and wrestling, having “lettered”in each. Mike was a
veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1970. He was
stationed in Texas, England and Florida and studied and worked as a jet mechanic while in England. Mike
graduated from Broome Community college in 1996 with a degree in Elementary Education.

He pursued a career in construction, working on large projects, both industrial and residential. He was
especially proud of his expertise in the roofing industry. Having both his own company, and working for
large builders in the Northern Virginia/D.C./Maryland area and BSR in Binghamton.

Mike was especially fond of all of his nieces & nephews and their children and grandchildren, to whom
he was known as Jose; telling them when they were young, that was his middle name and of course they
believed him, and so it stuck all of these years later. Mike was an avid golfer in his later years and
enjoyed playing with his nieces, Whitney, Tiffani and Lacey on Team Jose.

Our brother was a fiercely loyal man. Should he be on your side, not to worry, if he wasn’t, perhaps you
should.

Mike was an eternal optimist and had a wonderful and contagious sense of humor. His presence and that
sense of humor are going to be greatly missed at our family gatherings, for years to come.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Maxine Clift, Candace Rezucha, Darlene (Jerry) Earley, Kevin Alford,
