Merrill "Butch" Gill, 82, of Kirkwood, NY, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 24, 1943, in Binghamton, NY, to the late Albert and Beatrice Gill, Butch was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend. He was the heart of his family-steadfast, gentle, and full of quiet strength.

Butch shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Carol. Together they built a life rich in laughter, love, and legacy. He is survived by Carol and their beloved children: Lisa & Tom Brink, Betsy & Todd Smith, Mindy & Bob Beauchamp, and Kelli & James Huffman.

He was a proud grandfather to Chelsi & Eric, Zachary, Molly & Matt, Dylan & Julie, Chase, Alex & Michelle, Jordan & Madison, Tyler & Leah, Carlie & Troy, Abigail, Maxwell & Alexis, Phoebe & Mitchell, and a joyful great-grandfather to 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Butch found joy in life's simple pleasures-Sunday breakfasts at Cracker Barrel with Carol, watching every Yankees and Giants game, and bowling in leagues with his brothers. But his greatest joy came from being surrounded by family. His happiest moments were spent with those who lovingly called him "Poppy."

Butch's warmth, loyalty, and sense of humor left a mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the memories they'll carry forever.

A service to celebrate Butch's life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Christian Community Church of Conklin, 1049 Conklin Rd, Conklin, NY 13748.  Viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 AM, followed by the service at 11:30 AM.
