Maurice Howe

Maurice D. Howe Maurice D. Howe, 95, of Endwell, New York, went to the Happy Hunting Grounds on September 8, 2025. Surviving him are his children; Cynthia Kane, Little Rock, Arkansas, Dana and Richard A. Keiser, Binghamton, New York, David and Judy Howe, Binghamton, New York and Susan and Brett McMullen, St. Petersburg, Florida; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and sister, Rosamund Warfield. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen, sister, Beverly Bondy, brother, Wallace Howe, and parents Clayton and Daisie Howe.

Maurice was of Scotch, Irish, English and Powhattan heritage. After High School, he studied engineering, then joined the Army. His first assignment was 18 months with the General MacArthur Honor Guards at the American Embassy in Tokyo. He then served in the Korean war for 7 months as Battalion Radio Repair Chief. He was deeply involved with the General MacArthur Honor Guard Assn. since 1981, helped to build and sustain it, and acted as Vice Chainman for several years. After his discharge, Maurice met and married Helen, the "Love of his Life". They lived in Kansas, where their 4 children were born. After various jobs, he joined IBM and became the regional expert on accounting machines and computing systems, teaching many courses and traveling throughout the Midwest. In the early 1960, IBM moved the family to Endwell, NY, where he was a senior programming consultant within the USA and abroad. He and Helen visited many different countries several times. They were officers and chaperones of the International Youth Rally (IYR) student exchange program. Other volunteer activities include Mended Hearts, Meals on Wheels, Boy & Girl Scouts, Mentor for at risk students, Neighborhood Watch, and the Binghamton Township Historical Society. Rotary International played a major role in his life. He was Treasurer for 17 years., and as President, He brought the Adopt-A-Highway program to Endwell and other Rotary clubs in the 7-county district. He was heavily involved in the youth exchange and Honored by Rotary with multiple Paul Harris Fellowships.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the Guthrie/Lourdes Seton 1 nursing staff and to Mercy House. Donations in Maurice's memory can be made to Mercy House, Meals on Wheels of Western Broome County, Binghamton Township Historical Society, Rotary, or a charity of your choice. A Private Celebration of Life for the family with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Our Family is grateful that he is now Reunited with his Beloved wife Helen and Joey the Wonder dog.
