It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Simons Montgomery, who left this world on September 20, 2026, at the age of 73 surrounded by family and friends. 

Mary was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Henry Woodrow Simons and Grace Barnard Simons, as well as her brother-in-law, Raymond D. Strakosch. She is survived by her brother, Allan Simons; her sister, Doris Strakosch; her cherished niece and god-daughter, Margaret Strakosch; along with numerous cousins and dear friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

Educated with a Master's Degree, Mary dedicated her life to social work in Binghamton, where she made a significant impact in the community. Known for her vibrant personality and loving heart, she was a true social butterfly, enriching the lives of those around her with kindness and compassion. Her love for music echoed in her passion for singing and playing the violin, leaving a lasting melody in the hearts of all who knew her. 

In her later years when her activities were more limited, she became a beloved resident in her care facility and still loved celebrating holidays and birthdays with family and friends.

A Memorial Service to honor Mary's incredible spirit will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 5:00 PM, at the DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, New York, 13903. Family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 PM until the time of the service to celebrate Mary's life, share stories, and express their love and admiration for an exceptional woman who will be dearly missed.
