Mary Helen Chapman, 76 of Endwell, NY passed away peacefully at her home on May 22, 2019. Mary Helen was born in Beckley, WV. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Walter Chapman. She moved to Endwell, NY in the mid 1970’s. Mary Helen was a graduate of Indiana University with a Master’s in Music. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She shared her knowledge and talents with hundreds of students over her 50 years of teaching piano, voice, organ as well as a variety of instruments. One of her greatest joys was watching her students grow in ability and confidence. Most recently, Ms. Chapman was the organist and choir master at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Johnson City. She truly enjoyed her job and the people at Redeemer who became friends and helped look after her in recent years. She was an active member of the American Guild of Organist and Harmony Club of Binghamton for many years. Mary Helen was also the original ‘Crazy Cat Lady’. During her lifetime she had many feline friends who brought her much joy, companionship and comfort. Her kitties, music, friends and ‘Garfield’ were at the top of her list of favorite things. At Mary Helen’s request, there will be no services. There are plans for a memorial recital to honor Mary Helen.
