Mary Jane Gregory

d. December 29, 2020

Mary Jane Clifford Gregory, 94, passed away on December 29, 2020 at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell, New York. Born to Robert and Mildred Clifford on March 27, 1926, she grew up in Norwich NY, and graduated from Houghton College. Mary Jane counted her Christian faith, her family, friends, and the communities in which she lived as wonderful treasures. Art, art education, and reading were lifelong passions. She and her husband, Myron, had an enduring commitment of service to others. A family trip (with all four kids) to help at a church camp in Appalachia, inviting a friend to live with them while she awaited an opening in senior housing, helping people they met on the street – all were typical acts of their kindness. Because of their third child’s special needs, they were early supporters of ARC/Achieve. Mary Jane once took the kids camping on Cape Cod for six weeks, with Myron joining the family on weekends. She was an art teacher in the Union-Endicott school district and enjoyed hearing from her students throughout her life. She found creativity everywhere and had a renewed energy in her last year when she had a paintbrush in her hand. She loved art museums and sharing that experience with others, her children, her students, her friends. She never met a museum gift shop she didn’t like. The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell for their excellent and heartfelt care; Laurie Winchell, her personal assistant at GSVE; and Linda Albrechta Klein for opening her home to the family as a bed and breakfast once Mom entered assisted living. Predeceased by her husband, Myron Gregory, and her brother, James Clifford. Survivors include her children, Clifford and Susan Gregory, Wales MA; Cindy and Mark Kneidinger, Naples FL; Michael Gregory, Valatie NY; Sarah and James DelSignor, Lee MA; grandchildren Trevor and Abbie Gregory; Tae, Brittany, and Carly Kneidinger; Kate DelSignor; and great grandson, Theo Gregory. She shared a special bond with her sisters-in-law, the late Martha Siegel Clifford, and Lois Gregory Wright of Worcester, and Lois's children. Memorial gifts may be made to Endwell United Methodist Church, 3301 Watson Blvd, Endwell NY 13760 or Achieve, 4733 Vestal Pkwy E, Vestal NY 13850. To forward condolences please visit www.demunn.com.
