Margaret "Peggy" Semmler

d. November 27, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggy" Semmler, beloved sister, devoted animal lover, and cherished friend. Margaret peacefully departed from this world on November 27, 2024. Margaret was 38 years old with 20 birth-anniversary.
Margaret devoted many years of her life to River Mede as a dietitian. After her career she worked at Security Mutual, where her hard work and dedication were admired by all who knew her. Yet, it was outside of work that Margaret truly shined; she was a compassionate soul with an unwavering love for animals. Her countless hours volunteering at the Broome County Humane Society reflected her deep empathy and passion for those who had no voice. A true cat lover, Margaret found joy in the soft purrs of her feline friends and had a special fondness for pandas.

Margaret is survived by her two devoted brothers, Norman Semmler and Eugene (Florance) Semmler, who will forever cherish her spirit and memory. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Thomas, Nicholas, and Chelsea Semmler, along with great nieces and nephews. Her light touched not only her family but also a circle of honorary family friends who were dear to her heart, including Evelyn Binkley, Laurie Nemconsky, Dawn Farrell, David Kaminsky, and Michael McNeil, and Joni Ewert. Each of these friendships added a richness to her life, illustrating the profound connections she fostered throughout her journey. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Martha Semmler, and her dear friends, James Eddy and Esther Allen.

As we grieve her loss, we also celebrate the gentle light that Margaret brought into this world. May her legacy of love, compassion, and devotion live on in our hearts forever.
In honor of Margaret's profound love for animals, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Broome County Humane Society, ensuring that her spirit of kindness continues to flourish.
