Marcella “Marcy” Fluke Eggleston passed away on October 14, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. A beloved mother and grandmother, Marcy was also a highly accomplished registered nurse. She graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital of Nursing in Duluth, Minnesota in 1954 and she began her upstate NY career as an ER nurse at Ideal Hospital in the mid 60’s. Marcy retired decades later from her position as a nursing supervisor at the New York State Psychiatric Center in Binghamton, New York. Following her retirement, Marcy spent many shifts at the Fattal Community clinic, which provided free health care to disadvantaged and uninsured residents of Broome County. Nothing was more important to Marcy or gave her more joy than spending time with and supporting her children and their families. She never missed an opportunity to attend a family gathering or the many sporting events, dance recitals and band concerts that her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was a true sports fan particularly when it came to the Maine-Endwell Spartans and the New York Yankees. Marcy was widely known by her family and many friends as an extremely insightful, caring and hard-working person who routinely put the needs and priorities of others ahead of her own. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and in recent years, a beloved great-grandmother. Marcy was proud of her Northern Minnesota heritage and she enjoyed tracing her family tree from Finland, through Ellis island and on to the upper mid-west. Among the many gifts she left her children was a well-documented family tree. Marcy enjoyed traveling throughout the northeast and far beyond. She loved music, dancing, hiking, camping, canoeing and even cross-country skiing. Marcy had a fundamental appreciation of nature from the ocean to the mountains and the forest in-between. She loved gardening, feeding birds and keeping a look out for wild turkeys and deer from her longtime home on Twist Run Road in Endicott. Marcy’s family would like to thank the kind and caring staffs of Castle Gardens in Vestal and Good Shepherd Village in Endwell for the wonderful support and friendship they provided to Marcy during her time there. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Helen Ojanen Heikkinen, husbands; Donald Fluke and Harold Eggleston and sister Judith Pasch. Marcy is survived by her children; Debra and James Kerins, Bradley Fluke and Jenni Rozas and Wendy and Doug Reynolds, treasured grandchildren; Kelly and Colleen Kerins, Briana Fluke, Megan and Christopher Hanrahan, Brooke, Shane and Paige Reynolds and great grandchildren, Zoey and Evie Hanrahan. She leaves behind her sister, Rosalyn Domitz and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 711 Farm to Market Road, Endwell with the Reverend Rachel Helgeson officiating. Marcy will be interred in Walton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305 or The Michael J.
