Louis Albert Petertyl of Binghamton, NY passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 atthe Vestal Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Binghamton to Helen and George Petertyl on March 17, 1921. Following graduation from Binghamton North High School, he joined the US Merchant Marine, and later served in the US Army. After his service in World War II, Louis was employed for 39 years at the New York Telephone Company throughout the Triple Cities area. Louis was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt for many seasons. Later, he enjoyed sailing both locally and over 30 winters spent with Jennie with their RV in the Florida sunshine. They always spent summers thoroughly enjoying their cottage on the Susquehanna River near Oquagua, gardening and spending great times surrounded by family and friends. Louis is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Jennie Pavlik Petertyl, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He is also survived by their three children: Belinda Petertyl  (Gary) Frost, Tom (Nancy) Petertyl , and Bonita Petertyl (James) Usas . Additionally, he is survived by three grandchildren: Derek Petertyl, Brian Frost, and Megan Frost (Gregory) Fornario , and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ross Memorial Church, 6 Morris Street, Binghamton.
