Lois M. Dougherty, 94, peacefully passed, September 14th with family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Kenneth W Dougherty. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Mark & Marjean Dougherty and Tom & Laurie Dougherty, her grandchildren Mario (Gina), Bethany (John), Dylan, and Brad (Toni), Jennifer, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lois was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved each person as if they were her own special child. She was kind, compassionate, giving, and always put others needs ahead of her own. She was the foundation of the family and a "mom" to her children, in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and neighbors. Over the years, she was involved in boy scouts, was a member of the Town of Binghamton Fire Auxiliary, and a longtime member of Tabernacle United Methodist church.

Lois enjoyed the company of her cats, doing jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, and playing solitaire on the computer. She learned to facebook and skype in her 80s and loved keeping in touch with her extended family that way.

She will be missed by many, but we will each carry the love she freely gave in our hearts. The family would like to thank all those at Fairview Nursing Home, Binghamton, for the care, kindness and love you gave her. She was blessed to be in your care.
