Kevin Michael Reidy

November 10, 1958 — April 20, 2024

Kevin Michael Reidy was freed from his human body and entered into eternal rest on April 20, 2024 at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier surrounded by those who loved him.

He was born on November 10, 1958 in Brooklyn, the firstborn son of Kevin Reidy, Sr. and Katherine Reidy. He married Cheryl Reidy on September 23, 1989 at the top of Snake Alley in Burlington, IA. Cheryl took care of him full-time after his brain injury in 2012 until he moved to Mercy House in April 2024.

Kevin was a man of many talents and skills. He owned Complete Contracting and was known for his dedication to his craft as well as integrity of business dealing. He was a loyal member of Holy Name of Mary Parish in Montgomery, NY. His gentle and kind voice made him a regular lector at the bright and early 7:00 mass. He was a civically minded man. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Boy Scout leader, and was the Vice President of the Valley Central School Board for over a decade - handing both of his children their diplomas at graduation.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a volunteer forest ranger and managed visits and hikers atop Balsam Lake mountain. He was an impressive musician. The sound of guitar filled his home and every holiday. Kevin and few others formed The Back Porch Boys and had fun playing informal events. Somehow, despite being such a man of the community, Kevin always had the most time for his family. He instilled a love of adventure in those closest to him. He caused many to fall in love with the ocean, the mountains, and the feeling of accomplishment that follows working with one's hands.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl and their two children, Eric (Meaghan) Reidy and Julia (Jacob) Tinker, his father (Kevin Sr.) and mother (Kathy), his siblings Michael, Denise, Bill and Carolyn, as well as a myriad of sisters and brothers in law, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was lucky enough to be a grandfather to three - Leo, 9, Aksel, 7 and Eloise, 3 and luckier, still, to have shared a home with them for the last three years.

Kevin left a legacy of faithful love and loyal friendship and will be missed fiercely. We ask that you remember his life everytime nature, song, or sermon moves you. We graciously thank each of Kevin’s caregivers and aides over his last decade. We ask that in lieu of flowers, gifts of money, time, or supplies be directed to Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott, NY.

A funeral mass will be held on May 10 at 11:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church 89 Union Street Montgomery, NY 12549. A gathering immediately following the graveside services with friends and family will be held at Sycamore Farms Farmstand 1887 Route 211 Middletown, NY 10941.
