Kathleen P.
DiFulvio-Kaepplinger
March 11, 1959 – April 14, 2026
House of Reardon
12:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
Kathleen "Kathi" Priscilla DiFulvio-Kaepplinger, 67, born March 11, 1959, passed away in Delhi, NY, on April 14, 2026, following complications due to cognitive decline and cancer.
Kathi grew up and spent most of her life in the Binghamton area and attended Binghamton Central High School. During her 10th-grade year, she attended Pittsford High School to be with her three cousins-Cally, Sara, and Beth-whom she considered her best friends throughout her life, along with her longtime friend Mary Grady. She eventually returned home to graduate from Binghamton.
A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Kathi went on to receive her Master's in Social Work from the University of Marywood. She dedicated her professional life to helping others navigate their darkest moments, working at Lourdes Hospital as a hospice social worker before opening a private practice, Kara's Legacy, LLC, where she specialized in EMDR and trauma therapy.
Kathi was deeply proud of her Irish heritage and carried fond memories of the Binghamton St. Patrick's Day Parade from her youth and her time as a young mother. Outside of her work, she was a woman of eclectic tastes and a great lover of all animals. She was an avid gardener who delighted in finding ladybugs and butterflies among her plants. She loved being a grandmother and spent a few proud afternoons watching her grandson play Little League. She found joy in being a collector of antiques and jewelry, particularly those handed down through her family, each piece with a history and story. She was famously drawn to unconventional and free spirited people, building a colorful social circle, and enjoying the mystical side of life-tarot cards, crystals, and talking to psychics.
Kathi found joy in the simple traditions of the seasons, especially strawberry, apple, and blueberry picking. She was known for her tart apple pies, homemade jams, and holiday cream cheese cookies made with her collection of cookie cutters. In the kitchen, she loved preparing eggs Benedict or creamed eggs on toast, and her favorite celebrations often involved a meal of corned beef and cabbage, prime rib, or lobster bisque.
Kathi was predeceased by her husband, John Kaepplinger (2022); her daughter, Kara DiFulvio (1990); her mother, Sharon Glynn (1995); and her stepfather, Charles Glynn (2010).
She is survived by her son, Christopher Joseph (Tricia); her daughter, Lynsay (Will); Brandon (fiancée Diana); and Tessa (fiancée Braeden). She is also survived by her sister, Savaughn (Billy) and niece, Maureen; her cousins and best friends, Cally (Rick, and children Kate and Danny), Sara (Lloyd, and children Kaylee and Christian), and Beth (children Ava and Eli).
Kathi leaves behind her grandchildren, Rachael (Devin), Karalynn, Joey, and Baker, as well as her great-grandchildren, Dean and Sammy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 26th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at House of Reardon, 25 Grant Street, Binghamton, New York 13903.
