John Brian O’Neill, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Born in Carbondale PA on June 3,1954. John was preceded in death by his Mother and Stepfather Doris and Dusty Miller, Father and Stepmother Walter and Evelyn O’Neill, and his Father-in-Law Robert “Bob” Wenzel.
John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Suzanne, Daughter Sara (Justin), Son Matthew (Ashley), Mother-in-Law Naomi Wenzel, his beloved grandchildren Lucas and Lilliana Rieber and Nicholas and Leigha O’Neill, his 5 siblings Gary (Karen) O’Neill, Kevin (Laura) O’Neill, Eileen (Ed) O’Neill Komor, Julie (Robert) Cusmano and Timothy (Christine) O’Neill, Sister-in-Law Sheila (Don) Kane, his treasured Nieces and Nephews Mary (Kyle) O’Neill Andrus, Jennifer (Ron) King, Kelly (Kevin) Twitchell, Billy (Brooke) O’Neill, Amy (Jennifer) Polhamus, Sarah (Jamie) Boehm, Robbie (Rachel) Cusmano, Joey Cusmano, Devin (Danielle) O’Neill, Brianna (Don) Speaker, Kaia (Jess) O’Neill, Michael (Ashley) Kane, Ryan (Erin) Kane, along with many Great Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. John also leaves behind longtime best friends Brian (Lois) Sternberg and Karl, Annette and Christina Cebula.
John graduated from Susquehanna Valley High School in 1972 and went on to work with Brian and Annette at Unicorn Electronics. John retired from Unicorn Electronics after 40 years. A talented artist and long-time musician with a beautiful voice, he was still an active member in the very popular O’Neill Brothers bluegrass band and prior to that the famous and much-loved Susquehanna Hat Company. John possessed a witty, funny, sarcastic, sometimes exasperating and dry sense of humor, right up until the end.
The family would like to thank Lauren and the Guthrie Lourdes Hospice for their kind care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donating to the Broome County Humane Society www.bchumanesoc.com. A memorial service will be held Friday August 9, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 36 Conklin Avenue Binghamton, New York 13903 with Reverend Doctor Arthur Suggs officiating.
