John R. Kosick, of Conklin, age 52, went to be in the arms of the Lord on Friday,
December 29th, 2023. After battling stage 4 esophageal cancer, he passed away peacefully at
home surrounded by his wife, children, and dearest friends. His beloved wife (Jolene), Children
(Cody, Toni, and Brad), and adopted family members (Christine, Luann, Jenny, Geoff, and
Isaiah) were with him through his final days- reminding him of how much he is loved.
He had a love of the beach, fishing with his grandchildren , boating, tending to his animals,
and hunting with his family, and scrapping/ auctioning with his best friend (Robert Barrett, Jr).
His grandsons (Landon and Samuel) were his pride and joy. He enjoyed teaching them all about
life on the lake and spoiling them whenever he could. John spent most of his career doing property
maintenance until the last few years. After this, he devoted his time to Hargo Appliance Company
where he gained an amazing extended family.
John, Jolene, and family could often be found camping at their second home, Lakeside
Campground in Windsor, NY. They were known for hosting Bridgewater Online for others to
view right from their camper. Everyone always knew that the coffee was always on. John lived
his life following Mark 12:31, “...Love your neighbor as yourself...”. His heart was full of
compassion and willingness to always help those in need.
John and Jolene were also involved in the youth programs while their son was a teen
and then supported Bridgewater’s Student Ministry as his children began leading in Conklin,
NY.
His biggest wish was for others to come, celebrate his life, and learn about the impact
Jesus had on his life. All are invited to Celebrate his life on January 6th from 3:00 - 5:00pm at
Bridgewater Conklin at 1017 Conklin Road. This will be a time for food, laughter, joy, and
faithfulness. A huge thank you to all the friends and family along with Pastor Tim Sullivan,
Pastor Andrew Peterson, and all of our Bridgewater Church family for their continued love,
support, and prayers through our ongoing battle. You always reminded us that the battle is
God’s to carry.
In lieu of flowers, please prayerfully consider donating to the Student Ministry program or
benevolence fund at Bridgewater Conklin.
