Jean M. Plummer, formerly of Binghamton, NY and recently of Media, PA. passed peacefully on April 25, 2022, five days shy of her 90th birthday. Jean (Jeanette) was born in Allentown, PA on April 30, 1932. She was predeceased by her husband Edgar C. Plummer (2008) and her parents, Anna and Paul Weber as well as sisters Ruth, Dorothy, Elizabeth, and brother Paul. She is survived by sister Irene, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Buzz) Sawyer, Wallingford, PA, and Barbara (David) Springer, Sneads Ferry, NC; three grandchildren Kelsey (Brian) Bosco, Kyle (fiancé Megan) Sawyer, and Michelle (Cody) Smith; two great grandchildren Carson and Aria Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Jean was a 1950 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Allentown, PA. She met her husband while working at the Americus Hotel in Allentown; he was later transferred to the Arlington Hotel in Binghamton where they began their married life. Jean was secretary and office manager for the Republican party under the leadership of eight different Broome County chairs from 1972-1992. Before that, she was a stay-at-home Mom and then worked in retail at Britt's Department Store part-time. She was a member of the Republican Women's Club, served as an election inspector and neighborhood watch coordinator and participated in a number of other volunteer activities. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Valley Cotillion Dance Club. While living in Binghamton, she belonged to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Vestal. Jean was a loyal and dependable friend and co-worker and was known to have a quiet, dry wit and sense of humor. Jean and Ed had many friends with whom they enjoyed many trips and vacations. She looked forward to family vacations to the beach in NC with her grandchildren and family reunions with the Weber and Plummer families. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul / Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal on Friday, April 29 at 11 AM. Visitation will be from 10-11 at the Church.
