Jean Lavalley, 84, of Binghamton, New York, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on December 9, 1941, in Greene, NY, Jean lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and love, leaving a lasting imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Barbara (Kevin Marble) Proper; her cherished grandson, Mathew (Jenn) Proper; and her adored great-grandsons, Mylan and Hunter. Jean also leaves behind her twin sister Joyce Magargle, nieces Tammy Pornbeck and Tracey Rock, nephew Paul Magargle, and cherished friends Ron and Carol Long. Most importantly, Jean has been reunited with her one true love, her late husband Edward Mandl.
With a heart full of compassion, Jean dedicated her life to serving others as a waitress in various local restaurants, including the beloved Little Venice. She was known for her boundless generosity, and her greatest joys were found in the company of children and dogs. Jean's infectious laughter could light up any room, and those who heard it knew exactly where she was.
A celebration of Jean's remarkable life will take place at the DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, New York, 13903. Family and friends are invited to join together in remembrance on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, as they honor the beautiful spirit of a woman who truly embodied love and joy.
Jean Lavalley's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us of the laughter, love, and warmth she brought to our lives.
