Jean M. Barrett, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, passed peacefully at her home in Binghamton on August 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Jean lived a life marked by love, laughter, and compassion. A proud graduate of Johnson City High School, she dedicated her professional career to Universal Instruments, where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector before retiring.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Ziemba; her mother, Dorothy Ziemba; and her sister, Linda Becker. She leaves behind a deep legacy of love through her husband, Bradley Barrett, her sister Kathy Ziemba, her son Timothy (Shawna) Barrett, and her daughters, Kim (Mike) Wasko and Victoria (Tim) Woods. 

Her warmth and kindness will be carried on by her grandchildren: Alyssa Barrett, Brianna and Holden Wasko, and Byron Woods.A passionate lover of animals, gardening, cooking, and family, Jean's spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She poured her heart into nurturing those around her, creating a home filled with joy and love.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jean’s beautiful life on August 14, 2026. A visitation will be held at DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 36 Conklin Avenue Binghamton, New York 13903 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 PM.

 In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jean’s honor to either Hospice Guthrie or the Humane Society, reflecting her love for those in need.As we honor Jean's remarkable life, let us remember her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought into our lives.
