Janice Slater

Janice G Slater age 79 of Binghamton, NY, formerly of Windsor, passed away surrounded by family and went home to be with God on April 21, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilson J. Woodruff Sr. and Dorothy Crawn, as well as her son Frank Slater, daughter Carol Slater, her first husband Robert Slater Sr, her stepson Clinton Franklyn jr, stepdaughter Eileen Franklyn, her second husband Clinton Franklyn Sr. and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Earl Slater, Robert Slater Jr. (Nancy), Hartley French, Betty Woodruff (Ned), Beverly Slater, Helen Slater, Shirley Slater (Dana Ramey), Janice Slater (William Simmons), stepsons Joseph Franklyn and Kenneth Franklyn and stepdaughter Eloise Franklyn. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great-, grandchildren who she adored, as well as her nieces and nephews. Janice will be remembered by everyone who knew her as a loving, caring and self-less woman. She loved her family more than anything else and spent most of her life wanting to take care of other people and help others whenever she could, especially her family members. She was also a very independent person and wanted to take care of everything herself, rather than asking for help even though her family members were willing to help her. Many of her grandchildren will tell you that it was her example of independence and determination that has influenced their lives and helped them to become the people that they are today. Aside from reading her bible every morning, Janice also enjoyed learning about the word of God by watching Rev. Billy Graham or reading his books, cooking big family dinners for the holidays, spending time with her grandchildren, listening to Loretta Lynn, playing Pokémon Go, reading Nora Roberts books, doing word search puzzles, watching crime shows on Ion television and watching professional wrestling with her family. Funeral services will be private, but feel free to leave memories for the family members on this page.
