Beloved father and grandfather, James “Jim” VanGaasbeck, 74, passed away August 20, 2020 having fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a kind person, he was everyone’s friend. Jim was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who he felt was in need. His life was centered around his grandchildren, never missing one of their sporting events even while undergoing chemotherapy. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Jim was an avid sports fan and a lover of bluegrass, classic country music and his cars. He was predeceased by John and Arline VanGaasbeck. Jim is survived by his children, Amy Gelinger, Jodi and Jon Bawas, Joseph and Michelle VanGaasbeck and Krista VanGaasbeck, stepdaughter, Tiffany Phillips, treasured grandchildren, Peyton, Madison, Abigail, Hunter, Wyatt and Elaina. He leaves behind siblings, Judy and Mike Markarian and Donald VanGaasbeck several nieces, nephews, cousins and a dear friend, Jeanette Warrick. Graveside services will be private.
