George Wayne Johnson Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle sadly passed away on September 8th, 2021. George was born to Spencer and Alberta on November 22nd, 1950 in Richmond, Virginia. The youngest of nine siblings, George was 70 years old and is survived by his wife Suzanne of 45 years, his siblings Helen, Barbara, and Lillian, his children Lola, George Jr., Lena, Georganne, and Keesa, and his many nephews, nieces, and grandchildren. George is preceded by his siblings Wilbert, Joan, Ed, Clarence, and James. Being a Jack of all trades, George was an amazing artist, sculptor, architect, entrepreneur, mechanic, salesman, and just about anything else you needed him to be. Always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and those in need George embodied love, compassion, and kindness. George also embodied courage and strength, which he displayed even on his worst days. In leaving this world, George leaves behind many memories and important life lessons that will forever be cherished. One lesson being to never give up, especially when you're a Johnson, because “Johnsons are strong like bull”. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 18th, 2021. Calling hours will be held from 11am to 2pm, while the service will be held from 2pm to 3pm. All are welcome to attend. The repast will be held from 5pm to 9pm at “Spotlight”, which is located at 73 Court Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
