Euretta "Rhetta" Puylara, 90, passed away on May 27, 2026, in Elmira, New York.
She was born on October 18, 1935 in Oneonta, New York, to Guy and Ethel Carey. Euretta was sister to Guy Carey and Dolores (Carey) Miller-Blessing. She graduated from Edmeston Central School and went on to start her career as a telephone operator.
Euretta married Eugene Puylara in 1958. The couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage, had 3 sons; Mark Puylara, Christopher Puylara and John Puylara. They shared happy memories of sports games and music.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Puylara, her parents Guy and Ethel Carey and son, Mark Puylara.
Euretta is survived by her sons, Christopher Puylara, John (Kathy) Puylara and their two daughters, Brianna and Megan Puylara.
Euretta was best known to us, for her volunteer work at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Making sure the displays of flowers were beautiful each week. Her passion for the New York Yankees, along with the New York Giants and her devotion to the old-western movies; Her tv was always roaring with reruns of 'The Wagon Train', 'Laramie', and Marshal Matt Dillons 'Gunsmoke'.
A celebration of Euretta Puylara's life will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Monday June 1 2026, at the DeMunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Euretta's name may be made to the Humane Society, 167 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903.
