Conklin, NY- Esther Gardner Kisner, 92, passed away peacefully at home on April 11, 2018 with her family by her side. A devoted wife and mother, Esther was predeceased by her husband, Donald L. Kisner, and her parents, William and Alice Gardner, and sister, Eleanor Gardner Aldrich. Esther is survived by her loving and devoted children, Sharon Kisner Maggiore, and James Kisner, her precious grandchildren, Alice and Emily Maggiore.  She leaves behind her brother, George Gardner of Minnesota, and many beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends. A special thank you to her son, James Kisner for all his patience and tender love and care over the years. Esther graduated from Binghamton North High School and Cortland State College. She was a teacher at Port Dickinson Elementary School, and later a substitute in the Susquehanna Valley and Binghamton School Districts. Esther was a member of the Retired Teachers, Conklin Seniors, and Garden Club. She attended church at Hallstead Baptist Church and Park Avenue Baptist Church. Esther helped teach Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, trying new recipes, baking and walking. She walked a mile everyday until age 89. Esther’s favorite color was green. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, and never missed acknowledging a birthday or special occasion. Friends may call at DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton, NY 13903 on Sunday, April 15th, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16th, at 11:00 am at DeMunn Funeral Home. Interment will follow services in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In addition to flowers, contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church of Hallstead, 96 Pine Street, Hallstead, PA 18822 for chair lifts and the Handicap Access Fund.
