Ellen Mae Small June 20, 1923 - May 19, 2012. Ellen passed away peacefully at her home, which she loved dearly. Ellen was born, raised, and spent her entire life in Binghamton. She was one of four children born to the late Clinton and Willma Martin and was the beloved wife of predeceased husband Elwyn Small. Ellen was predeceased by her brother William Guy Martin and his wife Sally, and her daughter Lynn Spencer. Ellen will forever be remembered by her devoted sisters Jeane Diesenberg and Blanche McEwan, beloved daughter Barbara Kovach, treasured grandson Ryan Spencer, his wife Jourdan, and their children Sophie and Max, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ellen worked for several years at Binghamton General Hospital. Ellen loved the West Presbyterian Church, of which she was a lifelong member, deaconess and Sunday school teacher. She was actively involved in the Binghamton Garden Club, and thoroughly enjoyed bird-watching, caring for animals, and drives through the country. Ellen touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to honor her memory on Saturday, June 2nd at 1:00 pm at the United Presbyterian Church, 80 Main Street (Corner of Walnut & Main) Binghamton, NY.  For anyone wishing to make a donation in remembrance of Ellen please send them to the United Presbyterian Church, 42 Chenango Street Binghamton, NY 13901.
