Obituary

Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness, but also with a celebration of a life so beautifully lived, that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Grace "Lizzy" Blackman, who left us on June 26, 2026, at the tender age of 9.

Born on March 22, 2017, in Binghamton, New York, Lizzy touched the hearts of everyone who knew her and inspired joy with her radiant spirit. Though her time with us was far too brief, she filled each day with love, laughter, kindness, and a light that will never be forgotten. Beautiful inside and out, Lizzy was a talented, compassionate young girl whose infectious smile, sense of humor, enormous personality and caring heart made the world brighter for everyone around her.

Lizzy is survived by her loving parents, Rebecca and Matthew Blackman, and her devoted brother, Zachary Blackman. She is also cherished by her grandparents, Jean and Walter Savichky and Margaret and Gary Blackman. Additionally, she will be lovingly remembered by her aunts and uncles, Benjamin Savichky; Angela (Robert Benak) Trela; Valerie (David) Ambrosh; Stephen (Kaley Kalafut ) Blackman; Erik (Amy Kehoe) Sculley; Jeremy (Lisa Daniels) Klimow, along with her beloved cousins, Elyssa, Tyler, Addy, Alivia, George, Juliana, and Kingston, as well as countless friends and extended family who were fortunate to know her bubbly and kind-hearted nature.

An enthusiastic and gifted dancer, Lizzy spent many joyful years at KO's Just Move Dance Studio, where her passion for movement and adorartion of performing shone brightly. She also excelled on the softball field, proudly playing for the Johnson City Little League Stars, where she embodied teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. Lizzy was a proud student at Johnson City Elementary School, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of classmates, teachers, and the entire school community.

Lizzy possessed a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome. Even at such a young age, she was a natural leader who led with kindness, encouragement, and compassion. She had an unforgettable gift for making people laugh and entertaining. Whether she was dancing, stunning us with her aerials and back tucks, playing ball, or simply being herself, Lizzy had a way of turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Her expressive personality, vibrant energy, and genuine affection for others left an impression far beyond her years.

Lizzy will always be remembered for the warmth she brought into every life she touched. She taught those around her to embrace life with enthusiasm. While our hearts are forever changed by her absence, we are grateful beyond words for the immeasurable blessing of having known and loved her. Her legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lizzy's beautiful life during calling hours on Thursday, July 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal.

A Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 3 at 11:00 at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, with a luncheon immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you reach out to a friend, neighbor, community member or group and bestow upon them an act of sincere kindness to honor the love, generosity and joy that defined her and will continue to inspire us all.

Though her time on earth was far too short, Lizzy's light will never fade. Her love, laughter, beautiful spirit, and the happiness she brought to others will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
