Douglas "Bear" Aton, 74, passed away February 11, 2023. He worked for the City of Binghamton unless Captain Joe and Doug saw “puff clouds”, then they were off the reservoir fishing.
He was predeceased by his son, Matthew D. Aton, parents Douglas J. and Evelyn Aton, in-laws Richard and Grace Correll, Sr., brothers-in-law, Joe Hubik, Frank Dabrovolski and Richard Correll, Jr. Doug is survived by his wife of 44 years (believe that??), Sharon “Pinker” Correll Aton, precious grandson, Kaiden Aton and Kaiden’s mom, Lisa Aton. He leaves behind sisters and brother-in-law, Diane and Ronald Sawchuck, Marilyn Hubik and Suzanne Dabrovolski, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda and Charles Fix, Cathy Correll, Susan Correll, Sheila and Jack Byrden. Doug’s family would like to send special thanks to Emily Bastiaanse of Guthrie, Lourdes Hospice and Mercy House of the Southern Tier for their wonderful care.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2023 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with Pastor Doug Hill officiating. Inurnment will follow services in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of services.
