Doris L. Dundon, 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She loved her family deeply and especially enjoyed taking trips to the lakes. Her family will always cherish the memories of many vacations to some of her favorite places including Sylvan Beach on Oneida Lake, Lake George, Keuka Lake and Lake Ontario just to name a few. Doris was also grateful to have shared great times together on Caribbean cruises with cousins and close friends Chuck and Ellie Jakaitis, as well as warm island vacations with her loving brother John Hummer and Francoise Herve. Doris also loved animals and was often comforted by her dog Rosie. She graduated from New York State University School of Nursing and was employed by the state for over thirty years including positions at the Binghamton Psychiatric Center, Community Treatment Recovery Center and the Broome County Mental Health Clinic.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years John J. Dundon, Jr., her parents James and Edna Hummer, Sr, brother James Hummer and sister Tammy Noxon. Doris is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John P. Dundon and Dr. Tammy Inman, her adored grandchildren Sean Dundon and Aaron Dundon. She leaves behind brother John P. Hummer and Francoise Herve, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat and Max Hubartt, Joseph and Barbara Dundon, Ann Marie and Michael Perhach, cousins Chuck and Ellie Jakaitis, William and Linda Jakaitis and Cathy Waldorf, nieces and nephews; David Noxon, Joseph J. Dundon, Jr., Adam Dundon, James P. Dundon, Michael Perhach, IV, John P. Perhach, Sarah, Carrie Ann Hummer and Robert Hummer. Doris's family would like to express special thanks to the nurses at Lourdes In-Home Hospice Care as well as to Pat Dundon-Hubartt and Barbara Dundon for their valued assistance with Doris's care.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Chenango Valley Cemetery.
