Deacon Costell Ladd, Jr.

Deacon Costell Ladd, Jr. 87, passed away January 30, 2023. Ladd was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He loved his grandchildren even more than his kids. Ladd would jump in his car and rush off to help anyone in need, never letting anyone down. After his retirement he was known locally as the Scratch off King. He was the only one in the Southern Tier to have curbside delivery for his lottery tickets. Ladd was an avid movie and boxing buff, he was a collector of many things. Many of which his children felt was an example of how one man junk was their Dad’s treasure.  He was active as Deacon at Our Free Will Baptist Church. Ladd’ touched so many lives, his death is a great loss, he will be missed more than words can say.

He was predeceased by his parents Costell and Ruby Ladd, sisters Annie B. Whitehead and Louise Flowers, brother Deacon Robert Lee Ladd. Ladd is survived by his children, Peggy Ann Ogle, Terry V. Ladd, Twinda Ladd, Sheila Ladd, Peggy Alston, Lynn and Brian Shepard and Jason Ladd, treasured grandchildren, Glenn Ogle, Anthony Ogle, Trenton Ladd, Travis Ladd, Tyler Ladd, Tara Artis, Calvin Ladd, James Murray, Sheyanna Murray, Alexandria Ladd, Matthew Ladd-Wright, James Garcia, Dustin Ladd-Godbay, Jacob Ladd, Isabelle Ladd, Xavier Ladd, Phebe Ladd, Zade Ladd, Anthony Turner and Logan Flynn.  He leave behind sisters Mattie Smith and Willie Bell White and a large extended family.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Monday February 6, 2023 at the Our Free Will Baptist Church, 80 Front Street,  Binghamton with the Reverend James Washington officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of services.
